TASMAN BRIDGE HQ MONARO
January 5th, 1975, the Lake Illawarra bulk ore carrier crashed into the Tasman Bridge in Hobart.
Part of the roadway collapsed 30 meters above the water.
Of the vehicles that were on the bridge, two vehicles stopped, dangling over the edge.
One of them being a green HQ GTS Monaro, owned by Frank and Sylvia Manley, who carefully escaped from the car to safety.
This vehicle, still in its original condition, is currently on show in the Launceston Motoring Museum.
2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of this event.
