Description
Common & Latin Name: Black Neon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi)
Care level: Easy
Max Size: 4cm
Diet: Omnivore
Temp: 23-27°C
Temperament: Peaceful
The Black Neon Tetra is a great little shoaling fish that truly compliments any colourful fish that it cohabits with.
They look particularly nice in heavily planted aquariums where more colourful species would cause a distraction from the beauty of the aquascape.
Similarly to Neon Tetras, they will adapt to a wide range of conditions and can be found in both dark and clear water in the wild.
These fish should be kept in shoals of 6 or more individuals to get the best out of them, but besides that, they are not a particularly needy and will accept just about any conditions as long as they’re not too extreme
. Food can be offered in the form of pellets, flakes and fresh or frozen insect larvae.
