The Actros has been in production since 1996. With the heavy-duty truck, Mercedes-Benz introduced electronic control of the engine and transmission, an electronically controlled braking system and networking in the commercial vehicle sector as part of the so-called Telligent strategy. Not only the long production time or the high sales figures, but also the multiple awards as Truck of the Year are proof of the success of the tractor unit. Ultimately, the Actros is regarded as a benchmark for reliability in the commercial vehicle sector. In 2003, the first, far-reaching revision took place, and the second facelift took place in 2008.

This construction stage, internally referred to as Model Project 3 (=MP 3), is the last revision of the first-generation Actros. Furthermore, the Actros offers a superior and thoroughly successful mix of economy, performance and comfort. The vehicle is powered by the proven six-cylinder engines with a displacement of 12 litres (OM 541) and the V8 engines with a displacement of 16 litres (OM 542), which produce from 320 to 598 hp and both comply with the Euro 5 standard. Both engines have already been able to impress in the past with tractive power and simultaneous fuel economy. In contrast to its predecessor, the radiator grille of the MP 3 has only three slats and looks much more curved.

Kit: The kit consists of a total of 292 individual components, distributed over eight sprues, a sprue with seven vinyl tires and a rich decal sheet. The truck was built with an impressive length of just under 26 cm. The detailed body and chassis have detailed surface textures. The frame consists of several parts. The 2-axle chassis has movable front-wheel steering. The wheels are also movable, just as authentic and detailed as the corresponding suspensions. The large windscreen allows a generous view into the driver’s cab. The cab itself can be tilted forward, with the multi-part engine coming into its own.
