Description
Avitrol Plus Bird Worming Tablets (100s) are a convenient and broad spectrum bird wormer which controls thread, caecal, round, gape, gizzard and important tape worms in caged birds. Avitrol Plus tablets provide a secure method of dosing individual birds.

- Tablet suitable for oral administration directly into the throat
- Suitable for most bird species except Gouldian finches
Avitrol Plus Tablets treat threadworm (Capillaria sp.), caecal worm (Heterakis sp.), roundworm (Ascaridia sp.), gape worm (Syngamus sp.), gizzard worm (Acuaria sp.) and tapeworm (Raillietina sp.) in caged birds over 250g in bodyweight.
Active ingredients: Levamisole hydrochloride 20mg, Praziquantel 4mg.
Dosage & Administration
Administer orally directly into the throat at the rate of Levamisole hydrochloride 40mg/kg bodyweight and Praziquantel 8mg/kg bodyweight, as follows:
- 250g-500g body weight – ½ tablet
- 500g-750g body weight – 1 tablet
- 750g-1kg body weight – 1½ tablets
Administration:
- Administer orally directly into the throat
- Do not feed birds for 24 hours before or three hours after treatment
- All birds in the same loft or cage should be treated and the loft or cage cleaned and disinfected three days after treatment
- If worm problems continue after treatment, consult with a veterinarian
New birds may introduce worms, mites, lice and other parasites into your aviary, so it is a good idea to treat them for parasites and quarantine them for a few days first.
Contraindications
Avitrol Plus is suitable for most bird species except Gouldian finches. Use with caution in parrots and other finch species. Not for use in food producing birds. Do not administer to species or strains of birds known to be sensitive to the effects of levamisole.
- Do not use this product during extremely hot weather
- Do not give to birds under stress or birds actively feeding young
- Do not give to Gouldian Finches
- Use this product with caution for parrots and finches – they are less tolerant to levamisole
- Not for use in food producing birds
