Description
This 1/18 diecast replica model of the Ford XB Falcon GT as raced in the 1976 Bathurst 1000 was driven by the legendary Murray Carter with co-driver Ray Winter. Only 3 Ford Falcons entered the 1976 race, after Ford had pulled the motorsport support in 1974. Despite Carter/Winter showing strong promise, their run was cut short by engine trouble on lap 148. Classified as finishing in 19th position, their performance is still respected for its effort against factory-backed Holden Toranas.
Carter, though not a factory-backed driver, was known for his passion and independent spirit throughout his racing career. His efforts with the Falcon XB GT highlighted his ability to compete at a high level, often racing against better-funded teams. His best result at Bathurst came in 1978 when he finished third.
