Description
1975 saw Peter Brock gone from the Holden Dealer Team, leaving the stern ways of Harry Firth’s management. To test the water Brock continued racing as a privateer with backing from Bridgestone and Melbourne preparation wizards Norm Gown and Bruce Hindhaugh.
He partnered with Brian Sampson for the 1975 Bathurst race. The L34 Torana qualified fast enough for 3rd on the starting grid, behind Bond and Moffat.
For the race, Brock was instructed to follow the plan; take it easy for the first dozen laps of the race and conserve the car, it worked, the Gown-Hindhaugh ‘yellow terror’ was running sweet-as-a-nut, whereas everybody else was having problems, and hindered by slow pit time. Brock took the flag for his first win as a privateer and his second outright Bathurst win.
Item includes certificate and production number plate, mounted to the chassis.
