Description
The South Pacific Touring Series was a series for Group E Production Touring cars, and was a support race for the Tasman Championship for Drivers.
The 1972 series was held over 4 races in February, starting at Surfers Paradise, then moving to Warwick Farm, Sandown and Adelaide International Raceway. Holden Dealer Team entered the newley developed LJ Torana GTR XU-1, with Peter Brock and Colin Bond in the drivers seat.
Ultimately the Ford Falcons of John Goss and Allan Moffat would dominate the series, with Peter Brock finishing the series equal fourth.
