Black Emperor Tetras are named for their dark, elegant colouration. Black Emperor Tetras are relatively easy to care for but require certain conditions to truly thrive. Their peaceful nature makes them ideal for community tanks.
Larger tanks provide ample swimming space and allow for more natural shoaling behaviour.
They prefer gentle water flow. Moderate lighting enhances colours. A dark substrate complements their colouration.
Include plants, driftwood, and leaf litter to create hiding spots and mimic their natural environment.
Black Emperor Tetras are omnivores and not picky eaters. High-quality flakes or micro pellets designed for tropical fish. Bloodworms, daphnia, and brine shrimp provide essential protein. Feed small portions twice a day. Remove uneaten food to maintain water quality
