The Glowlight tetra is a small South American tropical fish from the Essequibo River in Guyana. The front of the dorsal fin is the same colour as the iridescent orange-to-red stripe that runs from its snout to the base of its tail.
The glowlight tetra is a tranquil fish that swims in schools. It is larger than the neon tetra, and its placid temperament makes it a popular and perfect community tank fish. It should be kept with nonaggressive species of comparable size. It has a lifespan of two to four years when kept correctly.
