Red Eye Tetra (Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae) originates from the So Francisco, upper Paraná, Paraguay, and Uruguay river basins in eastern and central South America.
Red Eye Tetra is a popular schooling fish. As a result, aquarists frequently keep it in groups of six or more.
It can reach 7 cm (2.8 in) in length and live for around 5 years. The red-eye tetra’s body is bright silver, with a white-edged black basal half of the tail and a tiny red circle around the eye.
Because of their resilience and relatively simple maintenance, aquarists consider redeye tetras to be excellent starter fish. It is easily accessible, quiet, and appropriate for most community aquariums; however, it is extremely active and can disrupt slower, more timid species.
Typically kept at 23-28 °C (73-82 °F) in a tank with plants around the sides and back, using hard water (100-150 mg/L) with a neutral pH (7.0). People claim that Red Eye tetras can adapt to a variety of aquatic lighting. Redeye tetras typically prefer a variety of live, fresh, and flake meals.
