The White Fin Ornate Tetra is a very pretty species from Brazil and Peru. They are one of the medium sized tetras, but nonetheless peaceful. As a shoaling species, they should be kept in a group of 6 or more specimens. 10 or more will make this shy species feel more at ease.
These fish are able to adapt to a wide range of conditions and be kept with most other species of community fish,
The aquarium should be spacious with plenty of plants, tangles of driftwood and rocks for these fish to utilise and use for cover. The aquarium must be mature and should ideally be soft and acidic.
These tetras will make an excellent addition to a peaceful South American community. Cories, Whiptail Catfish, other Tetras, dwarf Cichlids and many other species make suitable tank mates. They should not be housed with boisterous species as they are easily spooked and quite a nervous fish.
Food can be offered in the form of pellets, flakes and fresh or frozen fish foods such as mosquito larvae and brine shrimp
